Case Report

Two cases of Volkmann's ischemic contracture following carbon monoxide poisoning are presented with serial histopathological studies. Interruption of the arterial blood flow due to mechanical pressure and increased subfascial tension caused by muscular edema appeared to combine with the already anoxic state produced in the muscles by the carbon monoxide to produce the muscle necrosis.
