ACUTE MICROCOCCUS CATARRHALIS ARTHRITIS.

SOLOMON, WALTER M.; TUCHEWICZ, HENRY R.
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery: October 1938
Case Report

In this case of arthritis, due to micrococcus catarrhalis, the clinical picture was that of gonorrhoeal arthritis. Organisms aspirated on two occasions from the joint and those found in a cervical smear were identical with the gonococcus morphologically, but cultural methods showed them to be micrococcus catarrhalis. Treatment resulted in complete restoration of function.
