A case of fracture of the shaft of the second, third, and fourth metatarsal bones is reported. There was an evidence of mechanical impairment of circulation in the second and third arteriae metatarsae dorsales and plantares with lack of blood supply and gangrene of the third toe. The clinical picture closely resembled that in thrombo-angiitis obliterans.
