About the Journal

The Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy (JACPT) is the only peer reviewed journal dedicated specifically to acute care physical therapy. JACPT is the official journal of the Acute Care Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. It is a forum for information regarding the physical therapy needs of patients receiving acute care.

Scope
JACPT is an indexed resource for the dissemination of researchbased evidence and clinical practice information related to physical therapy practice for patients with acute care needs. JACPT maintains high quality through double-blinded review, and a distinguished editorial board and pool of peer reviewers. JACPT publishes original research regarding evaluation and intervention for this critical patient population, including clinical trials, systematic reviews, case reports, and clinical perspectives.

Mission
JACPT is the primary source of scientific resources for advancing the practice of acute care physical therapy among clinicians and for promoting physical therapy as an integral part of acute care

Unique Features
JACPT was developed to enhance the prominence of physical therapy in the acute care portion of the health care arena and to demonstrate the scientific basis of our area of practice. Although hospital-based practice and intensive care, in particular, represent the major focus of JACPT, additional care settings including emergency departments, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and others are also covered in the journal.
