Practical Advice on EMRs, Part 2Louie, Ted MDInfectious Diseases in Clinical Practice: September 2011 - Volume 19 - Issue 5 - pp 350-351 doi: 10.1097/IPC.0b013e31822949f0 ID Clinical Corner Abstract Author Information After selecting and installing an electronic medical record system, the next step is making the system fully functional. A physician champion must be selected as the point person and facilitator. Useful templates must be constructed or modified, with an eye toward recreating one's own thinking pattern and with the proper components necessary to comply with Medicare's documentation requirements. It will be necessary to continue working closely with the electronic medical record company to customize one's system, as well as to help fulfill meaningful use criteria to earn the incentive bonus from Medicare.
