The following articles are being retracted by the editors of Obstetrics & Gynecology:
1. Fujii Y, Uemura A. Dexamethasone for the prevention of nausea and vomiting after dilatation and curettage: a randomized controlled trial. Obstet Gynecol 2002;99:58–62.
2. Fujii Y, Numazaki M. Dose-range effects of propofol for reducing emetic symptoms during cesarean delivery. Obstet Gynecol 2002;99:75–9.
Prompted by the “Joint Editors-in-Chief Request for Determination Regarding Papers Published by Dr. Yoshitaka Fujii” of April 9, 20121,2 (and research conducted by Carlisle3), the University of Tsukuba conducted an investigation, the results of which prompted this retraction. The “Results of Investigation” document from the University of Tsukuba is available as supplemental digital content to this retraction notice (see http://links.lww.com/AOG/A394).
The first article (Obstet Gynecol 2002;99:58–62) is being retracted because data falsification was identified by the University of Tsukuba (ie, the research period was manipulated by Dr. Fujii). In addition, the University of Tsukuba found that Dr. Fujii made false statements that the research was approved by an institutional review board and that he conducted the randomized controlled trial by himself.
The second article (Obstet Gynecol 2002;99:75–9) is being retracted because the University of Tsukuba found that Dr. Fujii made false statements that the research was approved by an institutional review board and that he conducted the randomized controlled trial by himself.
3. Carlisle JB. The analysis of 168 randomised controlled trials to test data integrity. Anaesthesia 2012;67:521–37.
