Letter to the Editor
Thank you for your wonderful newspaper. I read it front to back every month, and I am a big fan of Dr. Ravi Morchi's “Diagnosis Deconstructed.”
I was wondering if I could pose two questions to Dr. Morchi. How did he obtain the surgical skills he describes in his articles? And where does he practice surgery? Thank you again.

Dr. Morchi responds: Thank you for reading my articles; I am glad you enjoy them. I started learning surgery in 2003 in rural Kenya from American board-certified general and thoracic surgeons. I have practiced on my own in similar environments across central and western sub-Saharan Africa since 2009. My skills are particular to acute care surgical problems in resource-poor settings of developing countries where many patients have no other options for care.
