This qualitative analysis gathered the perspectives of adults with hearing impairment regarding hearing help-seeking and rehabilitation (including hearing aids). In-depth semistructured interviews conducted with 34 adults in four different countries were analyzed via interpretative phenomenology for the major themes of Age and Brain. Age was sorted into three themes: Expectations, Self-Image, and Ways of Coping. Brain was sorted into three themes: Cognitive Operations, Plasticity, and Mental Effort. Adults consider their age and brain to contribute to their hearing impairment, disability, help-seeking, and rehabilitation.
