It is that time of year again when the scent of spring is in the air, and CNSs gather together to address continuing education units, learn what we need to know to practice effectively and hear about what is on the horizon in the worlds of both practice and regulation. Will you be in Chicago this year to hear the latest, celebrate the successes of your peers, and network wildly with other CNSs?
There are a number of documents that the board will be releasing this year that have particular relelvance to the CNS and the implementation of the APRN Consensus Model. One set of very clear and very good resources is already available on the NACNS web site at the following URL:
Check out the new tool kit for regulatory and legislative initiatives and see how to best build the solution for your state. You will find all kinds of interesting documents including the FAQ sheets, specific links to regulations in various states that are considered to be role models for other states and more. If you are attending the conference note the pre-conference session that the Leg/Reg committee will be presenting to introduce the Toolkit and dialogue about your concerns regarding the APRN Consensus Paper and the implications of its implementation to you and your practice.
Additional documents that will be released at the conference are two board position papers. One position paper is on the APRN Consensus Document and its implementation and the other is on the role of Specialty in the future of CNSs.
I hope that you will be able to attend the conference and that you will come up to me and discuss your impressions of the blog...how I can improve it, what you want to hear about and how I can best serve your needs. Hopefully I will see you there!
