Abstract

Synopsis: In a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial, the administration of low-dose corticosteroids to patients with respiratory failure who had relative adrenal insufficiency resulted in shorter weaning periods and high rates of liberation from mechanical ventilation.
