Video Submission Instructions

Stand Alone Videos

Journal of Burn Care & Research accepts high-quality, longer-format Videos which will play in our Stand Alone Video Gallery. Stand Alone Videos, unlike Supplemental Digital Content Videos, will be presented in a progressive download format. For examples:

Please limit Stand Alone submissions to superb independent content. If the long-format video seems to supplement written article content more so than stand alone as an independent contribution, please break the video into shorter Supplemental Digital Content Videos (SDC) and submit these along with the journal article (individual SDC videos are limited to 10 MB in size). If the video truly stands on its own, this is ideal for a Stand Alone Video.

Stand Alone Video File Requirements:
All submissions MUST comply with the dimension and file size requirement for Stand Alone Video.

  • All videos submitted as Stand Alone Videos MUST be encoded in MP4 Video (.mp4) format.
  • Maximum file size is 1 GB.
  • Bit Rate must be 1500-2500 kbps
  • The frame size must be no more than 1280x720 or 1920x1080. The encoding recommendation for 1280x720 for a file size of 1 GB allows for approximately 45 minutes of video.
  • We recommend that videos be no longer than 20 minutes long.

Online Submission Process:
When submitting Stand Alone Video, the digital files should comply with the following:

  • Name the file appropriately to identify the author’s name, the date, and the file’s content.  This will ensure that the files are searchable.
  • Send the video to: Dr. Michael Peck at

Remember to always preview your Stand Alone Video file for clarity prior to submitting them to the journal.

Review Process:
All Stand Alone materials will be subject to peer review and published at the Editor-in-Chief’s discretion. The Editor-in-Chief retains the right to request that a Stand Alone submission be broken into shorter clips and reconsidered as Supplemental Digital Content downloadable videos.
