Abstract

A 48-year-old woman developed a moderate left-sided pneumothorax during bronchoscopic transbronchial lung biopsy for suspected sarcoidosis. She was asymptomatic and initially declined tube thorocostomy. Three days later, the pneumothorax had progressed and was accompanied by a large hemothorax. To our knowledge, this is the second reported case of hemopneumothorax complicating transbronchial biopsy, and the first in the English language literature.
