Oncologic breast surgery was accompanied by contralateral breast reduction in 114 patients versus a comparable group of 135 that were NOT accompanied by contralateral breast reduction. In average follow-up of 51.5 months, no significant difference was noted in the rate of synchronous or metachronous breast cancer incidence, although a tendency toward more metachronous tumors was seen in the latter group.
