Ann Surg. 2008;248(6):1042-50. In the article “Methylprednisolone Therapy in Deceased Donors Reduces Inflammation in the Donor Liver and Improves Outcome After Liver Transplantation: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial”, the authors would like to indicate that the calculated result of acute rejection rates within the first 6 postoperative months in untreated versus pretreated brain death organ donors with methylprednisolone is incorrect. In total, 11 out of 50 patients suffered from acute rejection in the pretreated donor group (22%) versus 19 out of 50 patients in the non-treatment group (38%). Although correctly mentioned in the Material & Methods section, by applying the Fisher's exact test (two-sided) the calculated result is p = 0.126 and not p < 0.05, as misleadingly stated in the manuscript. The authors cordially regret this error.
