It is a pleasure to present to the readers this collection of selected published manuscripts on the topic of stroke, the leading cause of disability in elderly. The number and percentage of stroke survivors with permanent disability in the world is significant. Many researchers are exploring the underlying causes and mechanisms of cerebrovascular disease as well as studying the best clinical protocols for the acute treatment that may limit disability. The collection represents a mix of recent publications and some of the most frequently cited manuscripts since 2002. These investigations cover a broad range of rehabilitation problems that impact this population. I hope you will benefit from having this collection of manuscripts easily available to you!
