Thank you, Joyce Hislop, for your candor and honesty regarding your struggle to learn how to use an electronic medical record (EMR) system ("Paper Chart Nurse," Reflections, October 2010). I've been an RN for almost 30 years, and I've just finished the first part of the EMR training required by our hospital. I'm trying to remain positive and recognize the advantages of these records, but a part of me wonders, "What if I don't get it?" For older health care workers, this can be a stressful, trying time. Fortunately, I work in an ambulatory family practice clinic where most of us are around the same age, so I have a built-in support system.
