I appreciated Christine Contillo's article about her transition from waitress to nurse ("Nurse, Where's My Lunch?" Reflections, June).
The correlation is relative to the Magnet initiative of achieving excellence in customer service. Many organizations have been initiating new processes to promote customer service—I've heard of one that served barium in a chalice on a silver platter during radiologic studies.
Yet serving the patient is a concept that's absent from the practice of many nurses.
