Office of the National Nurse gains support. On February 4, Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer, with the aid of Teri Mills and Alisa Schneider, both nursing instructors at Portland Community College in Oregon, introduced HR 4601, a bill that would establish the Office of the National Nurse—an idea first proposed in 2005 by Mills in a New York Times editorial during National Nurses Week.
