As part of my nursing education, I had the opportunity to spend clinical time at a local homeless shelter and day haven. I was under the supervision of a registered nurse who really impressed me with her compassion and sensitivity toward the homeless population.

"Homeless People & Mental Health: A Nursing Concern" (November) described exactly what I observed in the community. As I prepare to become a professional nurse, I realize that our duty to patients is to advocate for the services that these individuals need.
