The authors respond: The use of the brand name for the glucose meter is a point well taken. However, we stressed the brand name of the drug because it is a realistic contributing circumstance to the error.

When mixing insulins, the writer's practice may be different from what the manufacturer recommends. We stand by the manufacturer's recommendation: Mix insulins on physician's advice and follow physician instructions as to whether to mix insulins ahead of time.
