When sive-year-old Carls medication was changed from liquid to solid form and when a way was found to allow him some choice and some measure of control in the matter, the nurses no longer needed to restrain him. In other words, the right approch had been found. Here, the authors tell of some approaches to giving medication that they formulated from their work with 12 children, interview with their parents, and information from pediatric nurses and graduate nurse students.
