Research in Nursing—Philosophy and Plan of Action

AJN The American Journal of Nursing: May 1952
Article: PDF Only

The Joint Committee on Nursing Research and Studies met last November and December to carry out the function assigned to it: “first, to prepare a statement of philosophy and a plan of action concerning the way in which research in nursing can be stimulated, conducted, and reported; secondly, to suggest situations that need attention in the immediate future.” This report, the Committee points out, can he considered but a start which should be picked up arid augmented as early as possible by a continuing group assigned to this function. The section on “Suggested, Areas of Needed Studies” should be expanded by systematic study of each function of each nursing organization, to identify problems needing investigation which, if studied, would permit a more effective and complete accomplishment of these functions.
