The erratum published in 2011 [1] for Linas et al. in volume 25, issue 13 [2] was worded incorrectly. The correct information is as follows:

There is an error in this article [2].

In the results section, the incidence rates of pregnancy on page 709, paragraph 6 are incorrectly stated:

‘The overall incidence rate of pregnancy was 1.2 per 100 person-years [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.1–1.3 per 100 person-years]. The incidence rate of pregnancy among HIV-infected women was significantly lower [0.95 per 100 person-years (95% CI 0.86–1.0 per 100 person-years)] than among HIV-uninfected women [1.7 per 100 person-years (95% CI 1.5–1.9 per 100 person-years)].’

The correct sentence should read as follows:

‘The overall incidence rate of pregnancy was 8.5 per 100 person-years (PY) [95% confidence interval (CI): 7.9–9.1 per 100 PY]. The incidence rate among HIV-infected women was significantly lower [6.8 per 100 PY (95% CI: 6.1–7.5 per 100 PY)] than among HIV-uninfected women [11.7 per 100 PY (95% CI: 10.5–12.9 per 100 PY)].’

The incidence rate ratio was correctly reported and remains unchanged, 0.60 (95% CI: 0.46–0.78).
