Abstract

Community-acquired pneumonia is a considerable cause of morbidity and mortality and contributes significantly to healthcare resource utilization worldwide. Clinical practice guidelines developed by international societies have been published to improve the diagnosis, management, and prevention of community-acquired pneumonia. This review of current guidelines is aimed at choosing an appropriate therapeutic approach including local considerations, site of care decisions, diagnostic testing, antimicrobial therapy, and prevention.
