Abstract

Virginia Henderson's story about sewing reflected her concern for nursing as practiced.She sewed a web of meaning from the fabric of nursing practice that disclosed nursing as a complex practice, not merely prescribed skills and behaviors. This tribute focuses on Henderson's contributions to closing the rift between thinking and doing in nursing.
