Abstract

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: • To learn about the MyActivity Pyramid for Adults, a new conceptual graphic for adults (aged 18-64 years), which incorporates the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and summarizes the types and amounts of physical activity necessary for health benefits. The MyActivity Pyramid can be used as an educational tool to promote physical activity and the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.

Author Information

Stephen D. Ball, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Exercise Physiology and State Fitness Specialist for MU Extension at the University of Missouri. Dr. Ball's research focuses on body composition assessment and physical activity.

Robin Gammon, M.Ed., R.D., L.D., is a registered dietitian and extension associate for the University of Missouri Extension. Ms. Gammon is the program manager for a community-based physical activity program for older adults.
