Although research indicates that those who exercise regularly improve their quality of life, live longer, and prevent coronary heart disease, many nonexercisers remain unconvinced. This article provides advice for stressing the health benefits of exercise to sedentary individuals.

Lawrence A. Golding, Ph.D., FACSM, has been a professional in the field of kinesiology and physical education for the past 50 years. He has been a continuous member of ACSM since 1961. He is ACSM Program DirectorSM certified and ACSM Health/Fitness Instructor® certified.
